CLIENT ADVISORY – Jakarta Airfreight Operations – Volcanic Ash Disruption

We would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing disruption to airfreight services through Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK). This follows the recent eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

The eruption has resulted in volcanic ash spreading across parts of western Indonesia and into areas of airspace used by commercial and cargo aircraft. As a safety precaution, Indonesian aviation authorities and airlines have temporarily restricted, cancelled and rescheduled a number of flights to and from Jakarta. Additionally, other affected airports are experiencing similar disruptions.

Although CGK has now reopened and flight operations are gradually resuming, the situation remains fluid. Airlines are continuing to monitor volcanic ash levels and weather conditions. Meanwhile, aircraft and flight schedules are being assessed before normal operations can fully resume.

As a result, our customers may continue to experience:

• Flight cancellations and schedule changes
• Delays to inbound and outbound airfreight
• Cargo being rolled to later flights due to reduced capacity
• Missed onward connections and transhipment delays
• Backlogs as airlines work to clear cargo accumulated during the disruption
• Longer transit times for shipments moving through Jakarta

We are actively monitoring the situation with our airline partners and local operations teams. Where flights are cancelled or delayed, we will work with the carriers to secure the earliest available alternative uplift. Furthermore, we will keep customers informed of any changes to their shipment schedules.

Please note that current transit times for shipments involving Jakarta may be extended until airline operations and cargo capacity return to normal.
